Hair Journal

Holiday hair: when to book what.

Family photos, dinners and nights out all land in a few short weeks. Here's a simple timeline so your hair is ready without the last-minute scramble.

4 to 6 weeks out: book your times

Holiday weeks fill up first, especially Saturdays. The easiest win is simply booking early. Book online any time of day, or call (704) 709-0555 and we'll help you plan your visits.

1 to 2 weeks out: color

Booking your color, highlights or balayage about a week or two before a big event gives it time to settle so it looks natural on camera. It also leaves room for a quick adjustment if you want one.

About a week out: your cut

A cut a week or so before photos has time to relax into its shape. If you're booking color too, ask to do both in one visit.

A few days out: tone and gloss

A tone & gloss refreshes tone, softens brassiness and adds shine. It's a great add-on to a color appointment, or a quick refresh on its own between visits.

The day before or the day of: shampoo and style

A professional shampoo and style is the easiest way to feel polished for a dinner or party. Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase and it will last even longer.

Keep it looking fresh

  • Wash with lukewarm water, not hot.
  • Use a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and conditioner.
  • Always use a heat protectant before hot tools.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How far ahead should I book holiday hair appointments?

As early as you can. Holiday weeks and Saturdays fill first, so booking four to six weeks ahead gives you the most choice of times.

When should I get my hair colored before an event?

About one to two weeks before is a good rule of thumb, so color can settle and you have time for a gloss or small adjustment if you want one.
